Alternate Family Supports
Coordinate with alternate family around providing support, care, etc. to meet
individual needs.
Family Supports
Assisting families in deciding specific needs, and developing plans, by providing
information and resources. Provide encouragement, emotional support, case management
and training.
Special Services at Home
Provide information, Assist family in yearly application process, Contract administration
and personal plan development, Oversee and train support workers, Liaisons between
family school and support workers.
Screening for Parents
Process new support workers with police checks, reference checks, etc.
Shared Care
Screen, case manage and train alternate placements providing interim care in
other homes.
Respite
Screen, train, and recommend respite providers, assist In negotiating contracts
between provider and recipient.
Assist Parents with Handicapped Children Benefits
Contact Ministry to do intakes. Help find workers for these families.
Adult Education Classes
Board of Education teachers provide programs and classes to individual living
in the community through the year. Subjects are widely varied and address all
levels of educational need.
Special Interest Courses
Courses are provided during the day and evening, individuals can learn to cook
and eat the prepared meal. Learn how to put on make up and care for their skin.
Participate in flower arranging or make jewelry.
Summer Camp (Age 3-16)
During July and August children from ages 3 - 16 attend a fully integrated Day
Camp program. The camp features environmental leaning themes along with special
trips and friendship building.
After School Program in partnership with Port Colborne Co-op Day Care
For children ages 3 - 12 with developmental needs whose family have no other
means of support, i.e. SSAH (mostly with behavioural difficulties) Social skills,
behaviour issues, problem solving, emotional Issues, etc. are taught.
Specialized Adapted Tutoring
Trained volunteers tutor children aged 5 to 15 according to the child's needs,
computer assisted learning activities encourage children to improve learning
and social skills, while gaining self esteem.
Supported Independant Living
Designed to support adults living In apartments In the community who require
minimum staff support.
Day Recreation Services
Recreational activity and learning events that individuals can contract on daily,
weekly, or monthly basis suiting their needs. Transportation from home and to
events is provided.
Employment Services
Providing assistance, training and support for individuals to secure meaningful
employment in our business community.
Employer Supported Career Training Program
Community employers provide training on the job for persons who are exploring
their career options.
Social Activities Club
A weekly event on Friday night when people get together and go out to the theatre,
bowling, mini golf, hockey games, stockcar races, or just have a evening of
pizza, games and music.
Leisure Trips and Outings
Throughout the year integrated trips to Live theatre in Toronto, Ontario Place,
Canada's Wonderland, Prudhommes; Landing, etc. are arranged for the enjoyment
of Individuals and families. Occasionally trips to Cuba, Florida, California,
Branson and others are also planned.
Volunteer Program
Volunteers assist in a wide variety of the programs listed on these pages, giving
special courses, driving to events, working with our computer systems, or being
a friend to the people we support.
Volunteer Recreation Drivers
Take those wanting to go to different shopping malls in the In the region where
they can go to a movie, shop, people watch, or have a coffee with a friend.
Training and Workshops
Training is offered to all employees & volunteers In the agency, at times
workshops are offered to outside people and agencies.
