The tutor program teaches individuals not only to use a computer but other skills such as having patience. Working with volunteers, individuals play on educational software and learn new programs. These programs involve skills such as math, spelling and reading.
The programs are also quite challenging and each level is more challenging than the previous one. As most of us know, using the computer can be challenging. This challenge is increased for some individuals who have troubles with fine motor skills, memory, or shorter attention spans.
It is important for the tutors to be understanding, patient, and know when to gently assist the child. The most important thing about tutoring is to have fun, make friends and to learn.
